Mentoring

One on one mentoring relationships between an older and younger woman in the faith are one way, of many, to journey together as disciples and disciple makers in the Kingdom of God.  Jesus modeled a process of walking together with a few disciples, living and serving together, and teaching them what the Father commanded. He left us an example that we should follow in His steps (1 Pe 2:21), as we sacrificially invest in one another, sharing life together and surrendering to the Spirit to transform us through the Word. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

To learn more about what mentoring looks like, consider going through our introductory video course on the how-to’s and how-not-to’s of mentoring.  This is taught by 5 women of TBC and seeks to define mentoring, talk about ways that women in our body have been doing this well for many years, suggest dangers and temptations to avoid, and give suggestions for how to proceed in the weeks and months to come as you pursue one or more mentoring relationships with women in our body.  We will not, however, tell you exactly what to do. Each mentoring relationship is unique and different. Our goal is to establish a framework for you to embellish in subsequent relationship building.

You will also find a link to resource materials suggested by women of TBC.  Some are guides to mentoring and others are books that pairs have read through together in mentoring relationships.

It is our hope that through involvement with women of our church body, you will find a woman with whom you naturally connect to pursue a mentoring relationship.  If you are finding this difficult, feel free to contact Amy for help.
