Women of TBC Summer Book Club 2023
There is a profound difference in knowing about God and knowing God, but one informs the other. This book has been so formational in helping me to draw near to God relationally. I want to invite you to read it with me, at your pace, this summer.
Here is a link to the Study Guide in the back of the book for those of you who may already have a copy or who may purchase one without a guide: Study Guide
From Publisher’s Summary:
For over 40 years, J. I. Packer’s classic has been an important tool to help Christians around the world discover the wonder, the glory and the joy of knowing God. In 2006, Christianity Today voted this title one of the top 50 books that have shaped evangelicals, and this 20th anniversary edition is updated with Americanized language and spelling, and a new preface by the author.
Explaining both who God is and how we can relate to him, Packer divides his book into three sections: The first directs our attention to how and why we know God, the second to the attributes of God and the third to the benefits enjoyed by a those who know him intimately. This guide leads readers into a greater understanding of God while providing advice to gaining a closer relationship with him as a result.
DISCUSSING WITH OTHERS: My prayer is that you would gather with others: family, neighbors, past Bible study groups, or friends and discuss this book over the summer! You may choose to meet weekly, every other week, or once a month to discuss the book in sections, or you may even choose to meet only once to discuss the book as a whole. Some books have a study guide in the back to guide your discussions! If yours doesn’t, I have a link to a separate study guide you can purchase or you can use this PDF of discussion questions I found online.
We will not be meeting formally to discuss this book, but I would love to meet with you one on one to talk about it if that would be helpful to you! Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can set up a time to meet!
