They were arguing over who would be greatest in the coming kingdom and no one had performed the common courtesy of washing the feet of the dinner guests. Jesus does the unthinkable…He assumes the role of the humblest servant and washes the feet of the disciples. That evening the upper room was filled with “proud hearts and dirty feet!”
