Jesus – Our Great High Priest
The high priest was the religious leader of the Israelites. The most important duty of the high priest was to conduct the annual service on the Day of Atonement which included entering the Holy of Hollies to sprinkle blood on the Mercy Seat. The author of Hebrews calls Jesus, Our Great High Priest! He then shows how Jesus is superior to any earthly priest.
