Psalms 120-134 are called “the Psalms of Ascent.” As pilgrims journeyed to Jerusalem, the highest geographical city in Israel, these Psalms were often sung. A “hymnal within a hymnal,” the Psalms of Ascent were a reminder that on their journey, they
had “a traveling companion.”
