Luke 12:35-48

Ready for Action

“Stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning.” – Luke 11:35

Be Alert

“And be like men who are waiting for their master to come home from the wedding feast…” – Luke 12:36

The Thief

“You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” – Luke 12:39,40

• Certainty: Jesus is coming.
• Accountability: Servants must be ready.
• Reward: Faithful servants are blessed and honored.

Faithful & Wise

“Peter said, ‘Lord, are you telling this parable for us or for all?'” – Luke 12:41

Lazy, Procrastinating, and Unfaithful

“But if that servant says to himself, ‘ My master is delayed in coming…” – Luke 12:45

Judgment

Jesus uses extreme language to get the listener’s attention and stress the value of obeying His commands.

The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him… – Luke 12:46

Responsibility

“Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.” – Luke 12:48
