THE PROBLEM OF SIN

Gen 3:1-7, Rom 1:18-25, 2 Cor 5:21

Apart from Christianity, we have no explanation for and no solution to the problem of sin.

Sin in its essence is pride. It is rebellious self-assertion against God, other people, and creation itself.

Sin’s Deception (Gen 3:6-7)

• Sin meets a practical need.
• Sin promises more than it can deliver.
• Sin leads to separation from God and others.

God’s Wrath (Rom 1:18-20)

• Why God’s wrath is revealed (Rom 1:21-23)
• How God’s wrath is revealed (Rom 1:24-25)

Dishonoring God leads to dishonoring our bodies. The worst kind of wrath is God giving us exactly what we want.

Since we were created to be centered on God, then giving us what we want is his judgement because we end up finding no fulfillment in the things we have chosen. – Tim Keller
