Jonah’s Background

• Surrounded by evil leadership
• God called Jonah to go to Nineveh.
• Jonah fled toward Tarshish.

God’s Call

Now the word of the Lord cam to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying “Arise, go to Nineveh (…) and call out against it.” – Jonah 1:1-2

“I will make you a light for the nations…” — Isaiah 49:6

Jonah’s Response

“But Jonah rose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord…” – Jonah 1:3

• Stop running
• Be open to God’s leading
• Trust in His goodness
