The Difficulty, Desire, and Design of Prayer
Difficulty of Prayer
Desire to Pray
Designed to Pray (Understanding and Foundation)
John 6:63
“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”
John 6:68-69
“Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.'”
It has been said that prayer is “the only real way to know yourself.” When meditating on this statement, God brought to mind some amazing things that prayer does:
1. Sets our hope
2. Fixes our eyes on the Savior
3. Crushes idols
4. Destroys pride and keeps us humble
5. Frees us from worry
6. Allows us to pause and gives us rest
7. Enables perspective
8. Realigns our heart
9. Re-calibrates our purpose
10. Enlightens us to fear God
