His Kids Ministry
What We Do
We provide support and encouragement for the spiritual needs of individuals with special needs and their families so they may grow in their walk with the Lord and may participate and serve in the fellowship of believers at Temple Bible Church.
Sunday Morning Classes
We work to develop support systems and curriculum for individuals with special needs so that they may participate in mainstream Sunday school classes with a trained “Buddy” or in a self-contained special needs class on Sunday mornings. We currently have 2 self-contained classes. The His Kids class, which meets at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., and the His Adventures class for older individuals, which meets at 9:30 a.m.
Support Group Meetings
We partner with Susie Marek at Heart of Texas Independent Living (HOCTIL) to provide support group meetings held monthly on Saturday mornings at the church. This is a place where parents and caregivers come together to fellowship and focus on topics related to raising a child with special needs. Childcare is provided.
His Rest Respite Nights
We provide respite nights several times a year for parents and caregivers of students who participate in our His Kids Sunday School class and their siblings.
We help sponsor Deborah Lease’s Social Branch, a social and service group for individuals with high functioning autism and their families. The group meets monthly during the school year at Ralph Wilson Youth Club and gathers regularly for fellowship events.
Impact (Backyard Bible Club)
A backyard bible club for children with special needs meets for a few hours each day during our church’s Impact week every June.
If you have an individual with special needs and would like them to be a part of our ministry, please complete the Intake Form and contact Jessica Skaggs prior to your visit so we can better meet their needs.
